Education and experience
Camilo Schutte read law in Madrid and Amsterdam, where he graduated with a thesis that was published and won the Kluwer Post-Scriptum award in 1996. He worked as a researcher and lecturer in constitutional and administrative law at the University of Amsterdam between 1994 and 1998. In 1999, he was granted his Doctor Juris (PhD) with the thesis Constitutional Adjudication in Spain, under the supervision of Professor Lucas Prakke, professor in constitutional and comparative public law.
In 1998 Camilo Schutte started to practise law in The Hague with Buruma Maris (later merged into Houthoff Buruma) with R.S. Meijer in the Supreme Court litigation department. In 2001 he participated in the founding of the Dutch office of the international law firm Bird & Bird, focusing on dispute resolution in the telecommunications, media and IT sectors.
From 2004 Camilo Schutte coordinated and further developed the commercial litigation subgroup at the Amsterdam office of the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. From there, he advised and represented various domestic and international companies in diverse service sectors and industries, such as ICT, media, energy, banking and security services.
Practice and occupations
Camilo Schutte advises and represents multinationals and international companies in and outside The Netherlands (i.a. corporations from the United States, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France and Spain). He has worked for different sectors and industries, including ICT, media, energy, banking and the security and aviation industry.
He regularly publishes and writes monthly columns in Holland's most widely read legal magazine, Mr.
Speaks - besides his mother tongues Dutch and Spanish - English, French and German.
Camilo Schutte is a founding partner of the Dutch law firm Schutte Schluep & Heide-J°rgensen.
